Komon Avocats Expands International Reach at the IPBA Annual Conference in Japan

Komon Avocats is delighted to share highlights from the recent trip to Japan, where the firm participated in the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) annual conference. This event provided an excellent opportunity for the firm to engage with colleagues, clients, and working partners in Tokyo, furthering the growth of Komon Avocats’ Japan Desk.

Represented by partners Olivier FACHIN and Wissam Mghazli, the firm actively contributed to fostering relationships and exchanging knowledge during this significant event.

Key moments of the trip included:

  • Attending the 2nd Tokyo ICC Arbitration Day with esteemed colleague and friend Tatsuhiko Makino, exploring insightful topics in the evolving landscape of arbitration law in Japan.
  • Co-organizing the European Night alongside the Association des Avocats Japonophiles - AAJ (日仏弁護士協会) and Kitahama Partners. This side-event to the IPBA conference brought together esteemed colleagues Miyako Ikuta, Ryosuke Naka, Jiri Mestecky, and Claude Kaneda, marking the beginning of what promises to become a cherished annual tradition.
  • Experiencing the beauty of the Japanese countryside, including the stunning cherry blossoms in Aomori Prefecture and the renowned rice fields of Niigata Prefecture.

Additionally, the trip featured a stopover in Singapore, where the firm had the pleasure of connecting with IR Global colleagues Ken Chia, Subramanian Pillai, Venetia Tan, and John Mark Chen from CNPLaw LLP.
